AOL

Yes, Candace, I am on AOL. But I believe you can get into Seniors and Friends through IE or whatever browser you use. Same is true with SeniorLearn.org

I am on Facebook, but don’t go there much, only to check on my kids/grands and a few old high school buddies.

Seniors and friends

Is that on AOL? I didn’t notice if you are on AOL. I dropped it after they changed things. I can receive but can’t send. A lot of people have switched to Facebook. I inadvertently got on but don’t want to be there and don’t know how to get off. My niece is coming to visit soon and said she will show me how to disable it. It seems way too public to me. Guess I’m just out of step.

What I’m doing…

Posted by bookwrm on October 27th, 2011 2:46 pm

I am in my office chair, at the computer desk, checking all of my boards or websites where I post about books, mostly. On Seniors & Friends.org I post about books, movies, television shows, whatever. We have lively group there, and in SeniorLearn.org which was SeniorNet several years ago, I know some of you remember it. It’s gotten to where about every week, we lose one of our dear cyber-friends, which hurts a lot even though we may be miles and miles away and have never met them. One reason I keep checking in here, even to just “look in” and see what’s posted or who posted.

I often sit in my recliner, staring into space and it turns into a nap.

New look.

I too wish more would post here. Just tell us what you are doing even if it is just sitting in your recliner watching Tv or staring into space.

They made a change a little while ago–don’t recall why now. Wish more would check in here–I miss hearing from everybody but glad for the ones who do come. I’ve been into books about the mind lately. C-Span was live from the Texas Book Festival last weekend and there were so many interesting authors and books I have a list of at least 10 I’d love to download.

New Look?

This website looks “all new”. What gives?

Daily Visitor

I come in here each day, to see if anything has been posted. I was worried for awhile too. Nice to see folks are still here.

We ar here

People just are not posting. I am reading a J Brooks novel called Caleb’s crossing. I have read a number of her books and liked them and will write about it when I finish it. In the meantime I am knitting Packer dog sweaters for my daughters grooming shop. There have been requests. There also is a lot of political stuff going on here. There will be a telephone bank here the next three nights for the consolidation for making the Princeton borough and township one town.

Where is everyone?

New address

Posted by jackyjones on October 10th, 2011 11:40 am

The antenna on our roof didn’t work well with the antenna for Invisimax on the grain elevator in Oslo, so I switched providers. I still have a wire coming into our bedroom from “I” that the worker didn’t remove, but the holes for the antenna on the roof are filled (he said). A bother changing, but Frontier works much better, its through our phone, but not dial up, which we had in the past too. My first e mail whatever was a “Web tv” which was so exciting for me. The next door neighbor in their rv had one and it was fun, but did tie up the TV, which did not sit well with Clive.

All this modern stuff amazes me. Our grandson watched the Vikings (finally win) on his lap top. We plan to stop at our youngest daughter’s in St Paul tomorrow on the way home from MO. She has been struggling with Menier’s, a horrid dizzyness, had surgery on one ear, but it is now showing up in the other. A singer/actress, Kristin Chenowith, has it and wrote in the Guideposts magazine how sleeping on an incline helped, plus no sodium.. Rhonda has restricted sodium, but tried the incline last night and it helped. the surgery can result in hearing loss, and she is an ASL interpreter, and we all want to hear, no matter. My new address is jackyjones@frontier.com Thanks for mentioning it, Darlyne. I tried to send a notice to all, but don’t think it worked. And that history book sounds so interesting, Candace, I wish I had more time or could read faster. Jacky

Hello

Wow where does the time go?

I always enjoy reading your posts. Hopefully things will slow down a bit and I will be able to ‘read’. We had one rainy day recently and I would love to have snuggled in and read. However, I had two Dr. appointments and then since I was out did a couple of other errands and pretty much took up the entire day.

Take care all and Happy Fall. Georgianna

Would you e-mail me your email address? I must have an old one that doesn’t work. Thanks.

More books!

Posted by CCNL on October 8th, 2011 5:57 pm

Just what I need, Jerry–more interesting books! The older I get the more I realize how little history we learned in school. Kindle and C-Span 2 Booknotes are an addictive combination–instant gratification. I’ve downloaded some during author interviews. One was described as being about the assassination of President Garfield. I barely remembered his name the title “Destiny of the Republic” by Candice Millard sounded dry. However, the subtitle was–”A Tale of Madness, Medicine and Murder of a President.” Amazing history.

We are on our way to our oldest daughter’s in Warrensburg, MO. Our grandson and wife from FL are back there for UMC’s homecoming. we haven’t seen them since their wedding a year and a half ago. This distance/relatives is hard. We also will visit with his sister, our first grandchild. She is working on a Master’s in History and Religion in KC.

Glad about your mamm test, Darlyne. My cholesterol results came and I’m ok. I take 5 mgs of Lipator a day, and a stomach pill, so am thankful. Clive takes a lot of pills each day, but is doing alright too.

Jerry, your book sounds interesting, Clive’s dad’s familly came from Ireland through Canada, and, of course we know nothing about conditions of the land he left. Jacky

Found a new author

Posted by Jerry Horgan on October 7th, 2011 8:34 pm

I just finished a book titled “Paradise Alley” by Kevin Baker. A whale of a wonderful book of 660 pages about the draft riots in NYC during the civil war. It’s a subject that’s new to me. It describes the cruelty of the mobs in the big city. It starts out during the potato famine in Ireland, which described as more horrible than one would ever think. I enjoyed this book so much that I downloaded another of Baker’s books to my Kindle titled “Dreamland”. This is also about NYC but at a little later date. Starts out in Coney Island. This guy knows how to keep you interested!
Huggz all,
Jerry

Anybody out there?

This has been a good day. I found out that my mammogram was normal, after it had been rechecked. Now a film crew is done filming an ad for a politician in front of my house and the neighbor’s house across the street. A lot of people around with big lights and cameras and white boards and stuff. I was asked to be in it but opted out. My neighbors were in it. It was fun to see how they did it.

I am reading The Lake of Dreams. I believe it is by the author who wrote The Memorie Keepers daughter which I really enjoyed. This one is Ok but I liked the other one more.
