Jo, you could have made this New Years Eve permanently memorable.
Candace
I wish for everyone a safe sane New Year’s Eve and a happy prosperous New Year — healthy one, too.
I’m hungry!
Daughter and hubby and g’daughter drove into Denver this very early morning (2 a.m.) to be subjects for a tattoo artist who is trying to break the Guiness record of tattooing in a 24-hour period. They didn’t ask me which was fortunate – I’d have turned them down flat. It is a good cause however – donations to Breast Cancer fund. Me? I’d rather sleep.
You said it best, Jenny.
Candace
To all who enter here, have a Happy and Blessed New Year.
Happy New Year everyone!
I am looking forward to this new year; so many wonderful things are coming. I will be welcoming a new neice into the family; will take a trip to Great Britan. This will be a great year, I’m thinking.
I hope everyone in here has a good year too.
Judith
Jenny, did your granddaughter get snowed in at her home? So much of the area was impassable. Can’t imagine what it was like being stranded in the airports.
Candace
my granddaughter was supposed to come here today from N.y. but her plane was cancelled so hopefully she can come thursday. flying in winter is tricky, so all our plans have to be changed n. y. had 24 inches of snow, we here had only flurries. When i was young i was a skier and wintertime was the best time for us. i lived in the catskill mountains up north a d we had fun. i still love the snow, you all have a Happy and Healthy New Year. JENNY from Alabama. i have no spellchecker and made mistakes, i am sorry.
I once spent nine hours in the Houstan airport because of a late connecting flight. It isn’t fun. I hope all those stranded people in the East make it home soon. Julie is supposed to fly out of Boston today. I am not sure she will make it. Happy New Year all!
Hope everyone had a great Christmas and didn’t have any harrowing travel experiences. My son and dil were supposed to go to Minneapolis. Fortunately their connecting flight in Houston was eventually canceled. Spent all day to end up back home and happy about it, given the alternative.
On to New Year’s Eve.
Candace
ane happy holidays from the house of dogs in WI,
Darlyne
Thanks for helping get Jan’s message to us, Darlyne. I wiil Google and see if I can find the article. There is beginning to be some attention given to the conditions in the current mass farm production system. Sickening.
Candace
Hi Darlyne – I don’t know Jenny’s e-mail, but I am having
trouble posting in GGOBIT (says incorrect password
information).
I wanted to post about the information on the news today about Smithfield ham and other meats. They had horrid pictures of
the conditions in which the pigs are kept – no room to move or breathe. Made me sick to see it. It has been under investigation for several years and will probably be in all the newspapers
tomorrow. Your comments about Paula Dean made me think
of that. I don’t watch the food shows because I don’t
cook anymore, but I always got a kick out of her personality.
You can see it on yahoo.com.
I think someone commented on this book here but I can’t remember. I bought it to have something to read on the plane. It is quite large for an airplane book but I couldn’t think of anything else. If I finish it I will leave it in WI. Has anyone read it? I mailed my last package today.:)
Oh. that is so distracting–you know!!!
Merry Christmas to all.
Candace
The speech ‘habit’ that really irks me is “you know” every other word or so!
I want to say, “no, I don’t know.”
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays anyway! LOL
Judith
I quit watching a frequent PBS “how to” feature. The man demonstrated various methods to clean, polish, repair, etc. After every step of whatever process, he repeated “like so” in exactly the same tone of voice, over and over and over in every demonstration. I found it so irritating I couldn’t concentrate on the tip.
Candace
Darlene, so glad to finally see that I have a “partner in crime” as relates to the Big Bang Theory. To me, that is the funniest show on TV! I even Netflixed the first season since I hadn’t really watched it then. I’m hoping some nice daughter or husband will give me the entire set for Christmas! Oh, I dream! There have been nights when I’ve laughed so hard, I cried! I know nothing about science, and very little about higher mathematics, but this show is a riot! Love the comic book/superhero aspect too. “Penny, Penny, Penny”, who’s knocking on that door? LOL
Jo, yes you were missed, glad you’re back!
I don’t watch Paula Deen anymore because of that Y’all. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m Southern too. I say you all, but she just overdoes it. There’s a lady on one of the cooking boards I visit, that posts “y’all” with her recipes and commentary. I could just barf!
We did miss you. Glad you are back. I watch the news in the am and evening, House and The Big Bang Theory. Thats about it. I usually am reading while watching the news.
Glad to see you reconnected.
Candace
didja miss me, y’all?
I love watching the cooking programs but for one thing: two of my favorites come on consecutively – At Home with the Neely’s and Paula Deen. The Neely’s are fun to watch but I do get tired of his (Pat’s) use of y’all in just about every sentence. I counted one time and he said it 24 times in a half hour show! Paula is also from the south and she says it too, sometime shows more often than others. But both are good shows although I think I like hers better than theirs.
They are on the Food Channel as is Iron Chef America. I also love watching the Top Chef competition
on Bravo.
Much of the TV isn’t worth turning on the set.
Reading too – been going thru Jane Austen’s books. She really does (did) puncture egos, didn’t she!
Hockey games continue – GO EAGLES.
ciao for now,
Jo
Count me in too–I have a cane by each door leading outside–finally decided pride was too high a price when a stumble could have turned into a fall with serious consequences.
Candace
Jenny, I think most of us wobble a bit when walking outside. I don’t chance it if there is even a bit of ice and I am very carefull in the house. Take care!
So glad you didn’t break anything. For all of you in areas that had unusual cold and snow, the best thing was to wrap up and stay inside. I’ll bet a lot of knitting projects got finished up and books finished the past few days.
Candace
thats what i have been. sit in my chair. knit or read. i don`t walk any more outside, because i may fall. i wobble a lit and have to use a can. two weeks ago i fell in my bathroom , did not break anything, but still aching in my side. have a great holiday jenny from ala
I hope your daughter gets you back here Jo. We miss you.
I dusted off my exercise bike and rode it five miles. It is not much but a start. I am too chicken to walk when it is cold and windy. I can take cold but not wind. I found it too tempting to sit in my recliner and knit or read or spend time on the computer. Decided I had go get moving.
