Good for you, Darlyne!

Posted by Jan in Idaho on October 31st, 2010 1:49 pm

I miss the excitement of the old days doing what Jenny is doing.  I stopped by headquarters yesterday and left a small donation and talked with some of the workers.
We have a candidate for Governor here in Idaho who may stand a chance – would be a welcome change, but I am so much in the minority here that there are only about a half dozen people in this whole facility who I can relate to politically.   Much of Idaho is the same way, I’m afraid.

More business

Posted by Darlyne C on October 31st, 2010 12:11 pm

They will be here telephoning people to remember to vote. My kitchen table is taken over with political paraphernalia. They will leave by PM when the trick or treaters start. One more day of this and I can get back to normal. Jenny will have them Tuesday. As I said before, “It keeps me out of trouble” and I am happy to do my part.

IDAHO Falls

Posted by CCNL on October 31st, 2010 11:37 am

Glad to hear from you, Jan. Seeing your name brings good memories of Idaho Falls. I was so alarmed by the call that my son was in in a hospital in a small town I’d never heard of. When we left three weeks later he was well on the way to full recovery from injuries he had originally not been expected to survive, thanks to superb medical care there. My memories are warm despite the ice, snow and sub-zero temperatures. Hope you are enjoying your life there.

Am I On Your e-mail List, Jo?

Posted by Jan in Idaho on October 30th, 2010 4:42 pm

I haven’t had an e-mail from any of you.  I probably changed my e-mail address when I moved a few years back.   My address is janishtchnsn@yahoo.com (no vowels in the last name).  We always communicate on GGOBIT but guess if I should become totally disabled, no one would ever know.  I wish theSheaf  was on-line, Darlyne and Jackie.

I don’t subscribe anymore and am so out of touch with folks back there.

Wrong night

Posted by Darlyne C on October 30th, 2010 4:38 pm

Somebody enlightened me and let me know that trick or treat night is tomorrow night. I was all ready for tonight so I can listen to PHC anyway.

trick or treat

Posted by Co Jo on October 30th, 2010 4:13 pm

isn’t allowed here. Since the bldg is locked at 5 pm, you need a key card to get in. wouldn’t work with trick or treaters.

Sometimes I miss the little kids.

Busy day (weekend)

Posted by Darlyne C on October 30th, 2010 7:56 am

My house is the staging house for Democrats who will be canvassing and telephoning to get out the vote. I will try to watch the DC rally as Julie, some of my grandsons and people I know will be there. Tonight I expect over 100 trick or treaters. I live on a street where the houses are close together and people are generous so we get a lot of kids. I am ready with flags, cookies and Reeses Peanut butter cups for the kids. There will be no time for reading today.

Allergies

Posted by Co Jo on October 29th, 2010 9:33 pm

Monday thru Wednesday were windy, Monday and Tuesday being the worst. It has been windy all week though. I plan to make a dr appt next week to see what I can take that won’t interfere with my other meds. This is the pits and I’m totally worn out. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Allergies!!

Posted by bookwrm on October 27th, 2010 2:13 pm

Yesterday here in Dallas, we had an enormously high pollen count: Ragweed, Mountain Cedar (which kills me), etc. My eyes were dripping, and itching, I was sneezing, Kleenexing the nostrils. It was awful. WE had lots of wind blowing the stuff around us. Today, not much wind, I even went outdoors and haven’t sneezed yet (fingers crossed).

Take care. and take your Zyrtec.

Endless allergies

I hear you, Jo, I’ve been sneezing and dripping–seems Austin comes up with something for every season.

Fall/Winter

Posted by Co Jo on October 26th, 2010 2:34 pm

I love the season but hate the effects. I’m not sure if I have a cold or if it’s allergies, but my nose has been running a stream and most times, even sniffing while headed to the box of tissues doesn’t help. I carry a small jar of mentholatum for my poor red nose. Does anyone feel sorry for me?

Garvin

She may need a new password – I suggest everybody keep a small notebook with passwords and other stuff in it. I have one and it has saved my life (and temper!) many times.

E-Mail list

Jo: My e-mail address is correct as sent.  Thanks for remembering me!

She may have to get a new pass-word and can get that from Jenny. jenny@crumiller.com

Jenny might not answer right away as she is pretty busy with the election coming up. There are two here in Princeton that are important. Julie if you read this and can help please respond.

Help, Darlyne

Posted by CCNL on October 24th, 2010 5:57 pm

Garvin needs help getting on GGOBIT. Someone said you were no longer around–I emailed that you most certainly are. Could Julie help her? Her email address is gmc14@aol.com.

I heard from Traude

Posted by Co Jo on October 24th, 2010 3:37 pm

and she said both of those email addresses are good – I like the aol one myself. ;-)

Gee whiz already!

Posted by Co Jo on October 24th, 2010 3:33 pm

I had to sign in again – I NEVER ‘sign’ out as I just go to the next site I want – and I had to remember my password! Tain’t easy remembering thing anymore. :(

And I’m back also. Hockey season has started – finally; I was ready last March!

Thanks to Amazon’s Kindle stuff, I’ve been reading about scandalous Royals and scandalous Americans – both books well written. Read all about the royals were had mistresses and other not-so-royal activities, and the American pols have been awful – they’ve not changed much. I still have Rutherfurd’s latest tome, New York. I want to get the rest of his books, too; well, most of them at least — SARUM for sure.

Thanks to those of you who emailed the folks on the distribution lists they had. I THINK I have gotten the whole list now but will be sure. Someone had a different address for Traude (whom my spell check likes trade more than Traude) so I’ll wait until I find out from her which is best. at any rate, thanks to those folks who emailed me. I do appreciate it. As soon as I figure out how to use this new-to-me email program (Windows Live Mail — couldn’t get my Outlook Express again), then I’ll get my folders up and working again. The transfer from one computer and program to a different computer and program was NOT successful in that respect. Sigh.

All is well here – windy today and cloudy dark skies in the northeast, sunny at the northwest. Supposedly we have some ‘weather’ coming – snow in the mountains, etc.

Well, everyone – glad to be connected again. Take care and let me know that you receive this email and that your ‘address’ is a good one.

I am here

Posted by Darlyne C on October 23rd, 2010 8:15 pm

I tried to get tickets to a local theater to see Guys and Dolls. I have seen the movie and show but it has been a while and four other friends wanted to see it. They were all sold out.:( . I will probably spend tomorrow after doing a little cleaning of of the yard, reading Await Your Reply. It is our book group read and is turning into a page turner. It is about three different groups of characters. The first chapter opened with a young man tied to a chair and having his hand cut off. I haven’t gotten to the rest of that yet. Another is a young man on his way to Northern Canada to hope to find his schizophrenic twin brother. There is much background about this. The third is a young girl who has run away with her teacher from a bad situation in Iowa to Nebraska which is turning out just as bad.

A book!

Posted by Julie Crum on October 23rd, 2010 6:22 pm

Hi, all,
I will jump in and make an actual book post! I have been listening to the audio book of The Help, and it is living up to all the glowing recommendations. The story is eye-opening–I know it’s how things were in the sixties and before in the south, but this book brings it to life in a very real way. And the readers are perfect (there are several).
That’s my book talk!

Or summer doldrums?

Posted by CCNL on October 23rd, 2010 6:07 pm

Looks like it’s just you and me. C-Span 2 has had my attention much of today. Never fails that some topic I didn’t think would be of interest by an author I never heard of can hold my attention and I learn something new. I’m still smiling at the Rangers going to the World Series after all these years. What a celebration that was! Side note–all those bottles spraying everyone–ginger ale. Hope to hear from others here soon.

Has everyone been taken aboard a spaceship?

It’s been almost ten days since anyone has posted here! Where are you? (:

Miners

Posted by CCNL on October 14th, 2010 12:24 pm

It has been such a relief to have two days of television that reflected common concern and effort with a happy outcome. One report I’ve seen may or may not be accurate, but for what it’s worth:

The area in the mine is huge and part of the equipment includes pickup trucks. Two miners were driving when they saw a white butterfly and stopped to look watch it, wondering how it could possibly be in such an unlikely place. In that instant the the mine started collapsing ahead of them–where they would have been had they not stopped to wonder at the butterfly. Hope it is true.

I need

Posted by Darlyne C on October 11th, 2010 7:18 pm

It is worth it.

I need to be independently wealthy!

Posted by Co Jo on October 11th, 2010 4:48 pm

As it is, I’ll have to cut out eating, buying meds, going on trips – I’ll have my Kindle filled up in no time! :(

Two downloaded

Posted by CCNL on October 10th, 2010 8:45 pm

Downloaded Physics of the Impossible and The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo–have started these in addition to the Piano Teacher–each one got my attention immediately and how I have the delightful problem of which one to continue first. From what Jerry says, I might as well go on and get the rest of the Larsson books so they’ll be on hand when the first is finished. I love having several going at the same time.
