All right now –

Just where is everybody?

I didn’t get to the hockey coach’s show in Ft Collins last evening as my car broke. I started it, the battery charge was great but the engine wouldn’t catch. So it is in the shop. They started to look at it today but I got no call and now, I don’t know whether to worry or not. They say no news is good news but no news can also cause worry lines and ulcers.

Bah! Humbug!

Happy Twenty Ten

I do like the Kindle and I agree with the ‘few small drawbacks.’ However, like you, I think it’s great. The main thing I don’t like about it is the manual for its use is also on the Kindle so if you need to go step-by-step, good luck. I heartily dislike manuals that are included in the works of whatever it is you’re trying to use.

I had at the most 8″ of snow on my balcony while daughter had some 17″ in her backyard. I’m not as ‘protected’ up here as I thought!!!

I am FINALLY able to make a fist even though it is ‘tight.’ PITA!!! And one to go. I’m going to wait a bit on that one.

Good idea to stash luggage in the garage. Sounds as though you and everyone else had good company. Son-in-law Paul’s son Robert was here from CA and he and Jenna had quite a time gadding all over Northern CO. Oh to be young again! NOT!

LOL Candace – or in 1400 and 93, Columbus sailed the deep blue sea. Sorry folks, the devil made me do that.!!! I like 20 10 too.

Snow

My brother lives in that city and told me that the streets are plowed but one can’t see around intersections because the snow is piled up so high on the sides.

I will have to put that book on my to read lise which is growing fast. The next three books my library book group are reading I have read so I can enjoy others.

Happy New Year + a week

The house is quiet again. Youngest two daughters plus families were here over New Year’s. We played Bloogerdash, not sure of the spelling, New Year’s Eve. Its a board game where the “Blooger” reads a very unfamiliar word, and everyone tries to write what they think it might mean. The blooger reads all the attempts plus the real definition, and everyone guesses which meaning might be correct. Points are given to move around a board. It can be very funny and our family loves games.

Our nearest large city got 25 inches of snow. Its now been pushed and hauled out of the way as well as here in Oslo.

I just finished To End All Wars by Ernest Gordon, a non fiction about POWs in Thailand during WW 2. It includes the building of the bridge over the river Kwai. The author became the Dean of the Chapel at Princeton University, Darlyne.

I like the sound of 20 10. Jacky

I was awakened this AM by the barking of Voucher, the howling of the puppy and the clatter Kanga makes when she runs down the hall with a slipper in her mouth. I then realized I had been dreaming and wasn’t in WI anymore and had to get up and get my own coffee. Bummer!

The trip home was tiring but do-able. It is good to be home. I started on the latest Kingsolver book and it looks like a keeper.

Giving

I just did my daily click on all the sites that the come up with the one below. They are showing the total numbers of bowls of food, books, mammograms, etc., provided through those daily clicks. Great indication of what just a minute or two spent clicking those sites can achieve when so many do it.

Same to you, Miselle. On an earlier topic–twenty-ten has a nice ring to it. I don’t think I ever heard anyone refer to the last century as nineteen thousand ten–too cumbersome. Now that I think about it–there was the rhyme about fourteen hundred and ninety two when Columbus sailed the ocean blue……

It is still very busy with many dogs and one cat. The cat stays in the shop and there is only one house dog now except when she has the puppy in for a while. This is a ten month old one she is grooming for show. We are having company for dinner and I am looking forward to seeing them as it has been many years. I am reading Little Bee byChris Cleve. this is for my library book group. Happy New Year all.

We had a great visit with alll of four children and our grandson, Patrick. Jo, you were talking about the space. We had two inflatable beds and I moved the car out of the garage and put card tables up out there so people coud stasch their luggage out there. I am so grateful that everyone seemed to have a good time and we are all still friends. I really didn’t ‘do’ much. I had told them I wouldn’t be cooking. But then different people ate at different times and ordered pizza in one evening and we went out a couple of evenings. All worked well and it was a good time. I was exhausted though and it may be another month before the house gets put back together.

Sounds like all of you had a good holiday. It was good to hear from you in regular e-mail, too. Georgianna
