Serena by Ron Rash
I realize that I am posting too much here but I just finished reading Serena and think many of you would like it
It takes place in the Smokey Mountain region and is of the logging industry, the destruction of the area and the men who tried to save it. Serena and her husband are very strong people, and head the logging company. Actually she does as much as he in this business which is unusual for that era. Among other things she trains an Eagle to hunt rattle snakes. I thought that was just fiction but learned that it could be done. There is much to this story and it becomes very brutal at times. For me on the most part it was a page turner.
