At Last I’m Here

My new computer has at last allowed me to post in GGOBIT…..as I said the other day I found America, America very tedious at the beginning, but I decided to stay with it and I”m glad I did. He writes very well and the story is very interesting, especially if you enjoy politics.

GOOD NEWS!

Fantastic, Jan! Isn’t great to find things are not as bad as you expect. It just occurred to me today that if you have a vacuum with a hose attachment, you could put a nylon stocking over the opening and go over the carpet and it should suck it up and hold it against the net. I’ve read about people doing that. It didn’t occur to me sooner because I don’t have that type of vacuum. If you do find it you could have a spare.

Glad you dropped in, Georgianna–you never know what you might miss.

I had a great experience today at Half Price Books. I had a $5 coupon so I went by to see if I could find any taped books. They’re getting hard to find. I took back a strange two-box set I picked up last time. I didn’t know the author or exactly what it would be but it was, I believe about $7 so I got it. I put in the first tape and found the premise so weird I couldn’t continue. I took it in and told the man working with incoming books I just wanted to leave it because I didn’t want it taking up space. He asked if I wanted to sell it. I told him I didn’t have the receipt. He said he’d give me $3! Done. I didn’t see any tapes on the shelves. There was a cart in the aisle I’d been walking around and finally looked at it–it was full of taped books! They were marked to clear–$1, $2,$3–all familiar names and titles. I walked out with 10 books for $20! I’m set for many miles of listening.

I had good news today.

I finally decided to call my hearing aide provider today.  Thought I would ask him if there was a generic hearing aide out

there, among the ones advertised for $20 – $50,  that would give me decent amplification.  When  I described  what had

happened, the receptionist looked for my name on her computer and said “Mrs. Hutchinson, your contract covers the loss

or damage to your hearing aide for a period of three years.”  Needless to say, I am elated!!  There is a $200 deductible,

but it sure beats the $2000 I would have needed had the clause not been in the contract.  I honestly did not remember

that was part of the contract.  Some days good things do happen to dumb people.

Catching Up

Wow! There has been a lot going on. I am sorry to hear about the truck theft. No fun. I, also remember the days when we left things unlocked but today I try to lock everything .

I am also sorry to hear about misplaced cards and loss of hearing aid. Learning to put my head on the floor and look across the floor or carpet is one of the best tips I ever got. It is amazing how much you can find like that. I have a crusade ! ! ! I think someone should make purses for those of us a certain age that have zippers and pockets and and designed so you can access almost everything without taking anything out of the purse but still be very secure. I also want pockets in everything I wear – everything.

One place we lived, all doors locked when they were closed. When you stepped outside to wave goodby, if your door closed, you were locked out. It was then, I began to keep keys in my pocket ALL the time. Then as my husband’s health was impaired, it was even more important for me to keep up with ‘stuff’ in a timely and efficient way.

I learned of a book about the town I live in, “Making Lemonade out of Lemons.” It is about the lemon groves and the immigrants here. I have only read the intro and look forward to reading more of it.

Good to hear from all of you. Georgianna

Jan, you might e-mail Jo. She has had similar hearing aid experience and might have a suggestion.

lost

Sometimes if I have dropped something small on the floor I get down on the floor with my face flat to the floor and if you are lucky you can see objects easier that way. It is getting harder and harder to get down there though but maybe you could get a young person to do it. Good luck.
