Dubai

Dubai is south of Iran, across the Persian Gulf and east of Saudi Arabia. The opulence of the tiny spot is amazing, our daughter’s friends said. It’s mostly “oil” money. There are man made islands in the shape of palm trees.

A lovely day in Oslo, but we drove north to a high school graduation party and the damage from the flood is really sad. Electric high line poles broken off from the huge pieces of ice. Normally our Red River’s ice cover breaks up and flows north before the river rises much, but this year’s cold temps kept the sheet intact until the waters had risen over much of the land and then we had strong winds, it was like mini ice bergs running wild.

Our son and men are working long hours trying to get seeds in the soil of fields dry enough to work. And more rain forecast tomorrow evening.

Darlyne, I see your brother and Jan have planted flowers on your folks graves. The cemetary looks fairly good considering it was covered with water a few weeks ago. We always have a Memorial Day program at our American Legion Mon. Our Ladies auxilliary serves a lunch.
