Yes indeed – a whole inch and I’m NOT ready for snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good grief!
Last night and this morning we finally got a nice rain–it has been dry for a month–just a few spotty showers in some areas but none at all where I am. And it came down slowly enough and long enough to sink in. For so long the rains we did get were so heavy they just ran off and caused flooding. Supposed to get up to 80 they say today but cool for Thanksgiving. I had a coupon for a free turkey and its thawing in the refrigerator now. I see lots of turkey hash and sandwiches ahead. Since I buy ground turkey all the time so might as well take advantage of this one. It’s good for cats so we won’t waste any.
Hope everyone has a good Thanksgiving.

No accident aboout that and we all know it even if daughter doesn’t!!!! LOLOL
I’m knitting too – a pair of knee warmers for my bro’s wife; I hope they work as they look awfully small. But the pattern doesn’t say for kids so who knows.
And I’m knitting dishclothes.
My one full grown 8 mo old ‘kitten’ Yogi has just ‘crept up’ which of course I didn’t notice (HE believes it anyhow) get directly in front of me and block the keyboard. His intent is to cuddled; it isn’t gonna work.
I mentioned to a neighbor that I didn’t see why Dale Earnhart (auto racer and a good one I guess) is so idolized. Wrong thing to say! He’s got a bloody library in praise of the man. I think it’s their plan to have me read every book they have on his but that’s not gonna work either.
A ffew puddles here today – ‘s OK with me as I don’t plan on going ANYwhere.
Take care all, stay dry and warm with a good book.

I’ve gotten very behind with my e mails and GGOBIT. So very sorry about aching joints and colds. A week of sore throat and runny nose is part of my excuse, reason, for not getting on the computer. I do know about hurting knees, had that simplier knee treatment about 10 years ago, those little holes that the Dr works through, and then I couldn’t step on my right foot for 6 weeks, I got very tired of, but good at crutches. And I know how blessed I am to have no pain in that joint,,,,so far. Just a sore shoulder and neck at times, but its bearable.
My husband found he needs another prostate biopsy after THanksgiving, he had the freezing prodecure a few years ago, but the psa number has inched up again. He says he’s not a bit worried, but he’s very quiet. He is also on meds for depression. I’ve mentioned my only sister’s viewpoint on getting older, “Its patch, patch.”
I’m enrolled in Netflix, a DVD movie mail order deal, but haven’t liked a lot of the movies we’ve gotten, but will get Tender Mercies, also Lonesome Dove, its quicker than my slow reading. I’m enjoying Playing for Pizza, by Grisham, Jerry mentioned it quite a while ago.
I’m in a short play tomorrow in our church, its funny but has a good message. I hope I remember my lines. We are still relatively mild, and not only no rain, but no snow!!!
Good to hear what’s going on in your worlds, I don’t know how one can accidently offer a knitting job either, Darlyne. I did try knitting, but can’t concentrate enough to no drop or add stiches.

My youngest daughter asked me to knit a sweater for her little dog. I can’t spell chiwaetc. Then she said she accidently told her vet I would knit one for his dog also. He gave her the dog. I don’t know how one can accidently do that. Anyway I am knitting.
I have started Blue Waters and so far like it.
It’s an umbrella and I did need it. I got my books and got sprinkled on besides.
Here’s a good description of bumbershoot! Interesting too.
http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bum2.htm
Umbrella – is that an old English term? UK English, that is? I think I’ll look it up on google.
Got my books – and I’m all set. wish i had a glass of wine to go along with the fireplace video. Lemonade will have to substitute.
What is a bumbershoot?
Blue Water is waiting for me at the library so I also will be using the bumbershoot.
Two of ‘em waiting for me at the library and it is raining – so, take the bumbershoot and go.
I hear ya. Back in a while. Anybody want to go?
Oh yes, when it gets to really bothering me, I take acetaminophen. Right now I can’t take any aspirin — ….. hope all of you are in good shape and staying warm. It got cold here in a hurry, didn’t it. Poured down rain this morning and is a beautiful clear sunny day now – no clouds.
Have a good evening folks.
Jo
I am not sick but had chicken soup(with extra chicken that I added) for dinner. It just seems like the time for that.
Jo, are you taking something for the shoulder like Aleve. Sometimes that will take the inflimation down.
And now shoulders.
I slipped on a waxy floor at work on day and crashed my shoulder into the wall. I’m paying for that now. I think I need a cortisone shot in it i have a bump there and it aches like mad.
One of my coal black 8 mo. old ‘kittens’ (who is a full sized cat) has just come up to my desktop and flopped his paws over my arm, looked up and reached to give me a kiss (on the cheek folks). He loves watching this.
At any rate, I hope all of you who are not feeling well will rest and have chicken soup and get well. Being sick at this time of year isn’t allowed.

Jo, one of the things I’ve been thankful for–so far I haven’t had one of my dizzy spells while the knee heals. My left knee has had off and on problems for 30 years but this last episode was the first time it didn’t eventually get okay on its own. I was reluctant to do anything but must say the injections have been effective. If they do last for 2 to 6 months, it sure has been a simple solution. If I hadn’t fallen and hurt the right one along with my rib cage, I’d be moving freely, pain free now. Knee problems or not–I always use a railing.
Candace
Well, I have knees that can’t make up their mind whether or not they care to work right, work mischievously, or not work at all. But they are so inconsistent that nothing seems to be necessary as yet. I just always check for railings! And keep my cane handy. It also helps me maintain my lousy balance which, I’d make a small wager on, is due to my hearing.
As one of my friends would say, getting old is pigeon poop! I don’t care for the alternative so I guess in lieu of that, I’ll take getting older but it still isn’t on my recommended list. There are too many things that fall apart.
Finished book two of the Red River series, Return to Red River. I am very fond of all the characters and I look forward to the third book of that series, More Than A Dream.
Other than that, there is no news and it’ss getting and staying cold. I believe that autumn is nearing its end, ready or not. I’ve even taking to wearing socks. Glory be!!!!!
Jo
Glad to hear of your successful knee replacements, Darlyne. Among people I know about, results are mixed. One doctor has had both replaced–one was successful, the second done twice and results not good. One woman my age has had both done and is pleased. One young friend (60) had a replacement and is not satisfied–says she can’t ride her bike for more than 20 miles now–not the 40 to 50 mile rides she used to do. I told her I thought she should be very happy with 20 miles–that would be a huge success to me. We’ll see how it goes. I’m concerned right now with not stressing the original bad knee while the fracture heals on the other. Should be able to get out of the brace by the end of the month. I’m just so thankful this didn’t happen until after my Sun Valley trip.
Candace
I had both knees replaced about ten years ago and they are joints in my body that don’t ache at times. I am very happy that I had it done and if able will do it again if they break down. The only problem is the x/ray at the airport. It always thinks I am a terrorist and I get put in the holding pen and patted down.
What a shame that you now have two knees in bad shape. I imagine it is quite painful as well as difficult to get around.
At least I’m not alone….quick excuse/summary….two weeks ago today completed the series of three injections of Synvisc in left knee–hope to avoid knee replacement. One week ago today I fell in my hallway–small vertical kneecap fracture on the right (good) knee. Instantly the bad knee became the better knee. Now wearing a hinged rigid leg brace to maintain straight leg, and no strong feelings about any of the issues and candidates, decided difficulty and risk outweighed civic duty. Guess in the future I should consider early voting.
Candace
Glad you voted, Darlyne. This is one of the rare times in my life that I didn’t. Only one item on our ballot between two city councilmen. I knew nothing about either one, felt ill and decided it wasn’t that important to cast a blind vote. Did you have your political party, Darlyne, or is that next week?
I voted and worked at the polls and played bridge after. It was a very long day for me. Left at 9am and got home around 5pm. I am not used to that kind of day.
Voting day and I hope you all voted to make up for the vote I missed. I had the runniest nose in all the world and didn’t date move too far from home – various other reasons. The runny nose quit yesterday (I love it when it’s just a 24-hour nose) but man, it sure does wear me out. Zero energy. And I’m taking my vitamins like I should, too.
I hope the rest of you are in better shape.
Jo
Thanks Darlyne – if I see it, I’ll check it out.
The movie Tender Mercies had nothing to do with the Red River Series. It is a fairly old movie, in the last ten years I think, and one of my favorites. I have watched it at least twice and would watch it again if it came on TV.
I didn’t know he could sing either. Was Tender Mercies about the Bjorklund family? If so, which character was he?
