They keep this up, they’ll be slippers for sure!
Jo, do not despair the loss of your hearing aid. One of the news items on AOL this morning pertained to a lost bracelet found in a chicken…25 years later! Maybe you should have your kitties xrayed?
Huggz all,
Jerry
I once drove up to the “correct change only” booth and all I had was a $20.00 bill. I imagined them putting me in jail and all sorts of terrible things. I offered to get out and walk to the next booth but the man just told me to mail in the money. There was no way I could have gotten out of that lane and no parking lot. He opened the gate and off I went. He had no record of me so I probably didn’t have to send the 35 cents it cost in those days but I did. The road was very busy and there were many cars behind me. I don’t know if he would have let me get out if that weren’t so.
I should have typed “UNinitiated” of course.
Time to go to bed.
Hearing aids - are a boon to the hard-of-hearing public but I have seen that it doesn’t take a cat to cause you to lose one of the #$%^&*() things. I’m ROFLing like crazy here. (ROFL, for those of you initiated ones, means roll on the floor laughing! And I am.)
Like all of you, I bit the bullet today. I had an appt to see about getting a less expensive one and, after a long discussion with the audiologist whom I realized was also in the business of hearing aid sales, decided to get a pair of the less expensive ones. I was, and am, not really happy with these two and so perhaps these next two will be better. Everything now of course is digital (and ask me not to explain the difference between analog - the old stuff, hearing aids AND cellphones - and digital: I have no clue) and perhaps that will make a difference. In addition, the company no longer makes the one like I already have and who knows if the old one and the new one work “work together.” So in some two weeks or so, I shall have new hearing aids and what with the plane ticket to FL (leaving 12/20) and something else I forgot I have also on my credit card, it now reaches the level of the national debt.
I have no doubt but what I’ll find the miserable thing somewhere and shall keep them both safe as backups. Remember to take out the battery, Jo!
The first thing that happened to me today however was when I pulled up to the toll booth on the PA Turnpike to go to the audiologist. I found I had no cash…nothing! Dust in the wallet! So of course I had to pull into the parking lot but it was more pleasant than I was afraid of. Woman came out and took down the info, gave me a little piece of paper with the $1.50 toll plus $1 processing fee and the address to send my check. I was once again on my way, some 20 minutes later and not late for the appt at all. Amazing. Neighbor couple was commisserating with me about the toll booth and the $$$ for the hearing aids and offered me a beer and a couple slices of pizza. I took them. Both!
Ah the fun and games of life.
I lost one of mine about 18 months ago. After looking everywhere imaginable, I gave us and bought another one about a year ago. This time I bought a large one that was a lot cheaper, thinking to myself “well, if you are so careless you don’t deserve another expensive one (can’t afford another expensive one).” Well when I was getting ready to move last summer, going through clothes and checking pockets before Salvation Army donations - lo and behold here was a hearing aid in my pocket. Obviously I was standing up conversing with someone when it started to squeal for lack of a new battery and I put it temporarily in my pocket. Temporarily turned out to be six months. But guess what - I lost the darned thing again about a month ago!!! Just an idea, Jo.
Is here anything at all in it that would react to a magnet? I’m guessing they’re all plastic, but just a thought. A stocking over the end of a sweeper tube might find something behind underneath, or caught under the edge of a chair or some such. If a cat did find it, it could be stuck somewhere they batted it. I’m sure you’ve thought of everything possible. I second-guess myself about throwing something in my wastebasket that I didn’t mean. I put the full bag inside an unused dog crate for a couple of weeks just in case I find myself looking for something. Sometimes I toss junk mail and then later realize I might have not looked closely enough at it–has paid off a few times.

I would check the vacuum bag unless you haven’t used it. It might be worth a try to vacuum and then check the bag.
Oh, Jo—-that is indeed a catastrophe! I could give you mine which I never wear–LOL
JOY
I doubt they ate it, Jenny, although I wouldn’t be surprised that they might have chewed on it a little. I’m not even sure when they did it but I’ve emptied trash and the bathroom wastebasket once and that is actually what I think happened to it. sigh
And at Christmas too. Wouldn’t you know!
i know what you mean. the prices are unbelievable high and the medicare does not pay anything to it.. the cats did not eat it, i hope, maybe you dind it somewhere. jenny
Coolish and clear. Love this weather.
Reread SHOGUN again and it was as good this time as it was the first time.
BAD news: one of my cats made off with one of my hearing aids - will cost me $2000 to get another by the same maker. I may go get one of the considerably less expensive ones this time. $2 grand is about $3 grand too much. Outrageous prices.
This is a story of a women who is trying to resolve her life after the death of her son in a car accident in which she was driving. Her best friend was driving the other car and caused the accident. She and her husband bought a large boat and spent next year cruising and trying to forget. The friend had been drinking and the woman couldn’t forgive her. She did go back and found out that her friend was just as devastated. There is much more to this story, the life on the boat, meeting other boat people and the relationship of the couple. I think it was a worthwhile read.
or how about clam chowder???????? I felt a wee bit queasy so I stayed home. And I feel 100% again. Thank you all for your positive thoughts.
Have a happy Turkey Day, whither Turkey dinner or McDonalds.
Darlyne
Jacky, is the calico a male? If so, keep him or something as male calicos are a gold mine or so I understand. It’s too bad they can’t go to the same home, two cats are company for each other.
Please give my sympathy to Clive on the passing of his cousin. It’s hard to lose a loved one.
For whatever reason, besides still running to use the facilities, I can’t get to sleep. I’m going to go try again however - it’s 2:30 a.m.
I have not enjoyed this day. 3 quarts of Gatorade (which I do like) mixed with Miralax and drinking 1 cupful every 15 minutes was not a picnic. I felt like I was going to burst. Thankfully that didn’t last long. Sure glad I’m not at a slumber party!!!!!!! LOL
Stay warm, folks
Jo
I mentioned some time back I was putting feed out for three cats I thought might have been abandoned, except they are not friendly. I wanted to get them fixed if need be. A few days ago I found out they are feral but the black one is the mother and the others were kittens she had under the steps of the property behind me–they’re grown now. The man there had had all of them fixed but they remain free and wary of people. It has been so pleasant I’ve left my front door open the last few mornings and saw two come up to eat. They seem to associate with each other–they each come alone. The main thing is–no more kittens!
Candace
Our daughter in law and grandaughter are feeding two adorable kittens with a bottle. The mother disappeared when the 6 babies were 3 days old, maybe was run over, and these two are the ones that survived. One gray and one calico, and they are so cute! They follow the family around with their tails straight up like exclamation points.
Since the family already has George and Gregory, large cats who do NOT like the kittens, homes have been found for both of them, I wish the same home, but that’s not the way it will be.
We are flying to Seattle for my husband’s cousin’s funeral the 26th. She is younger than me, but couldn’t, wouldn’t quit smoking, cancer got her at 71. We got cheap tickets and will be home the 28th. But we have to drive to Fargo, 100 miles away, Grand Forks has an airport too, but is a lot more expensive.
Clive is an only, and his cousins are more like siblings to him. Jacky
Nice to hear from you and thanks for the address change, I’ve changed the master list.
It is wet, rainy and quite chilly here. I’m staying inside and close to the facilities just in case.
I have to be there at 12:30 and the action starts at noon. I’LL be glad when it’s 4:00 pm tomorrow!
My Thanks go to all of u for your fellowship..it means so much to me…you all are in my heart and prayers for good health and happiness…
Please don’t forget me..I am now using my MAC..IMH2@mac.com…but I do check my mail on AOL (Miselle@aol.com) from time to time. Don’t foget me ..pleeease.
Just reading Robert Parker,Spenser mysteries…cute and guick.
Happy Thanksgiving to u all.

The peace of mind it gives you when it is over will be worth it, If something is there that shouldn’t be, better to get rid of it early.
Yes indeed, Jo, the prep is FAR worse than the procedure for a colonoscopy!!!!It’ll be over and you will not even know it. Here’s hoping the outcome will be satisfactory.
I had only 1 small polyp to be removed.
JOY
ROFL Darlyne - it would be nice but I doubt that wish will come to pass. LOL
We ended up with about 2 inches but nevertheless I went out. Had to get some cat food and litter tooday cuz I KNEW I wouldn’t be in the mood tomorrow getting ready for the colonoscopy. I doubt the procedure itself will be half as aggravating as the prep to be done by the patient the day before.
>:-(
It snowed for five minutes here this morning. I almost cancelled my errand and shopping trip because I don’t mind snow but I was afraid it might be icy. It stopped before I got to my car though so I did it all. I hope that is the last of the snow for this winter.
