Does “Map of the World” begin with a child’s death in a pond? I know this author writes very well, but this subject was almost too real, but I did finish it. When our oldest kids were small we lived on the farm with a large cattle trough for water, and although they had been warned to stay away from it, it always made me uneasy if I couldn’t see them in the back yard.Â
