I’d almost forgotten what it looks like but it’s back!
Dashed to the market this morning – a neighbor is going to bring his drill and put the knobs to open the cupboards down where I can reach them. Cupboards over the sink and high enough that I can walk underneath them and not hit my head. Cupboards on the opposite wall are even higher. Sheesh.
One of the tenants built in a base cupboard on that same wall, 2 wide drawers, two narrow drawers (I’d rather they were all wide but then —-). So when I got here, I got one of the maintenance folks to put in a shelf for me – one 12″ board wide. There was a ton of wasted space in there and this kitchen is small enough. I can’t imagine its usefulness without that lower cabinet. This is the poorest excuse for a kitchen I have even seen. There is maybe 22 feet of shelving above – my pantry is in the ‘coat’ closet in the living room. Pots and pans are in the stove and the base cupboard. Poorly engineered – VERY poorly engineered.
Well – that’s life and renting for ya. Can’t have everything in one apartment, I guess.
Reading: I’m reading Michael mcGarrity’s Keven Kerney series; he’s a lawman in Santa Fe and it’s rather like living in ABQ again. As you are all aware, I’m sure – I did love ABQ. Oh yes, and Susan Wittig Albert’s China Bayles series; China owns an herb shop and tea room and is married to a lawman. Good series, both of them.
